☞ REMEMBER: 240 Manhattan Avenue circa 1941

Before the taller buildings in the area came along, the corner of 110th Street by Manhattan Avenue and FDB/8th Avenue used to be a basic looking New York neighborhood.  The elevated tracks would have just been taken down at this corner by Morningside Park and the train tower would still remain next door at this point in time. By the time the 80s rolled around, new towers would be constructed over on FDB and number 240 Manhattan Avenue at the corner of the park would succumbed to demolition a little over two decades later.  A new tower will rise up on the spot in the next couple of years and once more the cityscape changes.  Photo courtesy of the digital collection at NYPL
